If you're a regular reader you will have become accustomed to reading my gushing tales about the garden and the vegies. I sort of sound like a mother talking about her children and I may or may not refer to the vegies as my babies at different times. It's a bit sickening, I'd totally agree, but when one is in love with the garden, it is hard not to show that love. *Dah dummmm - Start suspenseful music* That is, until the love turns into complete and utter frustration and you become just a little (OK A LOT) sick of the garden and it's behaviour. Begin Rant.

Sometimes I wonder about yours truly. i.e. myself. Do I have seriously early onset Alzheimers? Is my brain finally starting to rot from all the sugar I eat like David Gillespi would like to have me believe? Or is it just that I am a really bad baker? Let me explain.

Whilst I was reading 'The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake' a week or so ago, I decided it was a good idea to make lemon cake (obviously it doesn't take much to convince me to make food). It's quite a quirky little book and even after finishing it a few days ago, I'm still not sure what my verdict is. It definitely made me think - Is it possible to taste the feeling someone puts into their cooking? I don't want to give away too much, but the book is based on this idea. I'm not sure, but it is a long held belief that 'love' is sometimes what makes dishes taste extra spesh, I'd hope this is true.

When I woke up and looked outside, realised it was Saturday and that it was raining, I almost screamed out loud in delight. When D threw up the idea of heading to the Organic Markets held at a French Restaurant in a bigger town about an hour away, I knew that it was the perfect day for the gumboots to have their first official outing.

After my little trip away, I was not sure what I'd return to find happening in the garden. I'd employed a garden babysitter (okay, okay- it was Grandfather..) as my co-gardener was on the trip too, so I knew that the plants would at least be watered and hopefully wouldn't be a shriveled mess when I got home.
