G.G. De Lurk dear readers

I have to admit, I'm one of those people who sit at the bar or at a restaurant and sometimes gets distracted from the conversation with my P.I.E (partner in eating- I don't talk to my food in public!) because I'm too busy eaves dropping on other people's convos. Talent or bad habit? I'll go with talent. After years of practicing, my ears are able to pick up most of the finer details.

It's not that I'm a busy body (maybe I am,..).. It's just that I'm interested. Some of the funniest things I've ever heard have come from 'overhearing' and if people are having a full conversation loudly and proudly, I don't feel like I'm being too naughty by tuning in. After all, if it was so private, would they have the conversation in a public place at a decibel level for all to hear?  Trust me... some people do... at times I've had to tune out because I obviously should not be listening!

The thing about being a blogger is that you tune into all my adventures, (which are sometimes as boring as batshit, so I think you for bothering) but I know relatively little about you. I can't eavesdrop on your virtual conversations and to be honest, it drives me quite mad. According to my stats, a couple of thousand of you viewed my last blog post over the last two days-yet- I don't know much about you, and I must tell you, I do wonder!

I was checking out some of my other fave bloggers and noticed that the hilarious Mrs Woog had a du-lurk dahlinks post and I had a lightbulb moment. I'm going to copy her idea, because it is so fabulous and because I want to know more about you!

Friday is the best day to procrastinate- so whether you are at work, on a train or tractor, cruise ship, space ship, trampoline- WHEREVER you are.. Please DELURK! I want you to tell me something about yourself.

It doesn't have to be the usual name/age/location stats although that's always a good start, but just ANYTHING a little bit interesting. What did you have for dinner last night? Do you hate snails? Who is your favourite real cook (i.e. not a chef), Do you go shopping at the markets? Where are your favourite markets? What star sign are you? Do you like vegemite smeared thickly on your toast?

If you regularly comment - THANKYOU! but tell me a little bit more.. i.e. Are you a pasta or pizza preferer?

P.S. In advance- I'm pleased to meet you.
P.P.S. lurking is probably creepier than eavesdropping (or at least on par) so DELURK!
P.P.P.S  7 minutes after I posted this post- it showed 20 people had viewed it.. SO I know you are there- I can SEEE you!

Hey, GG.
I'm not really a lurker, but...
You know what we had for dinner last night, which was kinda crappy. So we chased it down with an array of frozen kinda delights, and then, spurned by the cookies I made for colleagues but couldn't eat, I made James make chocolate pudding mochi. At 11pm. After watching a really dodgy movie - "Fright Night".

Pizza all the way. Marmite, even if has to be a mite.

Now you tell us something about you!

HI- I'm Bec. I've only been reading for a couple of months and I found your blog because I was trying to start a garden. Coincidentally I come from Brisbane so I like reading all your reviews too. I'm 27, prefer pasta to pizza and spend too much time surfing through blogs, including your blog, instead of doing work. My job is boring though, so I'd prefer that.

I'd like to start a blog, but I'm not dedicated enough. I'd write 3 posts then quit so I'm better off reading yours.

I like listening to people's conversations too! My husband constantly berates me for doing so, but doesn't mind when I share the details. I have been reading your blog for ages but rarely leave a comment. I'm not sure why.

I read your blog on the go usually, wherever I am - at an appointment or waiting in the car to pick up the kids, of which I have three. I also have another 3 step kids that come to stay on alternate weeks. I love listening to your gardening adventures, which are anything but boring. I'm 38, my favourite restaurant in Brisbane is Montrachet and my name is Annie.

Oh hi. I'm not so lurky either. I say pizza over pasta! A white pizza with honey, pear, walnuts, and pancetta, to be precise.

It's my first time lurking around here but I like the delurking idea too. I made pizza last night but am definitely a pasta kinda girl. The Husband surprised me by deciding it was a meal that deserved a good bottle of accompanying wine. I am usually the alcoholic in our relationship.

Matt- you know plenty about me! More than enough, this time is your time to shine readers xx

HI, I'm Nell - first time reader, and first time commenter.
Pizza over pasta - but it can't be ham & pineapple :(
Dinner last was night was quick and easy- quiche and salad, but even then my 2yr old didn't eat much of it.... so hard to get kids to eat sometimes.
I prefer Peanut Butter over Vegemite, but grew up in a Promite household.

Yay! Welcome to all First time readers and commenters! Many thanks. Nice to meet you and hope to see you again soon.

I don't want to be a lurker so I'm leaving a comment. I'm 35 and I'm vegan. I love eggplant and vegan chocolate. Even though I don't eat most of the food you cook, it still looks delicious.

Hi I'm 29, My name is Kelly and I'm from NZ. I work is advertising and PR so read a lot of blogs but yours is more pleasure than work. I don't like vegemite (weird Aussies) but I do love a good pizza. Capsicum is my favourite topping for some weird reason.

I'm Sal and you know me in real life so I don't think I'm a lurker. Or maybe I am because I don't comment? Anyway, I love laughing at your gardening attempts so that is why I read. Also, I have to say (brown nosing here) that you have actually cooked one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Your spinach pie and spring rolls were ace. I also love pizza and am thankful you introduced me to Beccofino.

I always go to leave a comment but because I don't write a blog I don't have anything to link to. I also don't think I'm that interesting, but macarons are my favorite thing. My mom is French/American so I've been eating them since forever.

I'm at work and completely bored, that is when I tend to do most of my browsing. Also whenever I'm looking for recipes at dinner time. I'm a Capricorn, love Asian food (Vietnamese is my favourite) and love shopping, especially for kitchen items.

Oh- That last comment was from me too and I forgot to say that my name is Georgie. NO wonder I don't usually leave comments!

I'm not really a lurker since we've met and I sometimes comment. I am trying to think of something interesting to say about myself...Can't think of anything so I'll just go with random things:
- I rarely make the bed;
- I eat chocolate every day;
- I have difficulties cutting blocks of cheese;
- I spend most weekends renovating my house and I usually turn up to work on Monday with paint in my hair.

Hi my names Megan and I'm an alcoholic... Not really (okay sometimes)- OH, that's not what we are doing here?!

I don't need to tell you things, I see you "lurking" outside my bedroom window most nights. It's okay, when you don't show up I come and do the same at your bedroom window anyway. I am all about give and take.

I'm a shit cook... Thankfully dear husband isn't.

I secretly like some plane food. I know it's taboo and when you've been on the same plane as me, you don't even take it G.G, or kindly gave me yours. Thanks.

Good morning. I read your blog on the weekends if I have time. If I'm hungover I'd rather read blogs than watch tv. I'm not very interesting but I love Asian, particularly Sing's Asian at Rosalie.

I am a frequent lurker and commenter, and love your stuff G. Gal. Unfortunately I am supposed to eat gluten free - but love both pizza and pasta *sigh*. You must shudder at some of my choices of home cooking, but I love tagging along to your various restaurant choices to try diff. foods (when I am not so far away!).

HBomb said...

I'm also supposed to eat gluten free but I don't! I pay for it heavily though. Something interesting about me: I love plenty of restaurants you don't! We can't seem to agree. I also love that Big Hard Sun song you had playing- what album is it on?

Hey E, did you end up sorting out that France thing? Couldn't think of anyone who is handy sorry. does it have to be a package of 2 people or would they just have you? It's nice that she wrote back.

About me. I'm fussy with food, dairy is my downfall but cheese is my muse, so my eating is always complicated.

Hi GG, Thanks for visiting my blog, and I am your new follower. What an interesting place you have here! I will be back for sure. Have a great weekend!

Ahhhh, the lurkers! I have some of those; it's even creepier when you actually know them in person.
BTW, thank you for commenting on my blog. I'll be by to check out your posts.
About me? I started blogging in 2007 to document a reno, it ended up as more of a place to vent, but that's OK. When the Reno finished, I missed blogging, so I continued blogging about the stuff I was making in my new kitchen. I only just realized (2010 or 2011) how great it is to get comments. Now I'm totally hooked and love my world wide blogging friends.

I do most of my blogging at work. Shh! I read yours regularly but don't always comment. You read mine occasionally so I think you know a little about me. :)

I'm an equal pasta or pizza girl because it depends very much on the topping or sauce. I love farmer's markets but never get to go - the Wednesday ones in Brisbane Square are great. Small but great variety.

I'm Aquarian and I like vegemite thinly smeared on thick fresh butter on fresh white bread. Although it's good on hot toast too. :)

I listen to other people's conversations all the time! I actually blame it on not being able to tune out when I want to... =p
