Gastronomy Gal's Birthday!

So... If you knew me in real life, you would know I HATE my own birthday. I do love celebrating everyone else's though. Weird. I usually take the day off work so I can mope- and in the weeks leading up to my birthday I become really irritable i.e. bursting into tears at the slightest trigger-and believe me, this really isn't my style at all. It took me years to work out what was going on, and now I know the pattern, I realise it has been going on forever. I can even remember sneaking away for a cry at my seventh birthday party because I just felt too overwhelmed.

Anyway, whilst I am not as happy to celebrate my human birthday, I am totally excited to announce that September 6th is my Blog's Birthday!! This means I have been blogging for a whole year. In some respects, I can't believe I made it to this point, and in others, I can't believe it has only been a year. I feel so happy to have stumbled upon the blogging community because mostly, you are all a fabulous group of people! I now have plenty of new e-friends, and although that is kinda weird- it's also very cool.

This post is mainly to say 'THANKS FOR READING' - no seriously, thank you soooo much. I would not have been nearly as encouraged without all your comments and tweets. It can't be easy putting up my my lameo stories every couple of days, yet I know some of you read most of my posts. I am also inspired by all your beautiful blogs- and excited to see some changes in mine.

G.G is finally about to undergo some changes (that were meant to be finished literally 6 months ago) - these are mainly design element things. I know you have probably heard it before but I've seen the draft this time!! The writing will still be the same, although hopefully improving i.e less grammatical stuff ups etc! I am also on the quest to buy a new camera - just hoping to save madly after Christmas time to get my photos looking pretty gorgeous too. I guess I should have some photos of the amazing cake I made for G.G's first birthday? Um well... sorry guys, you all know how crappy I am at baking. I am hoping to go to some cake baking classes this coming year though, I've spotted some that look fab in Brisbane so will have to go when I get a chance. Another resolution is to make it to the second year- even with your support- it is sometimes tough to work full time and keep inspired to keep blogging. So I guess those are my aspirations for G.G's second year of life. That, and of course, much more eating and meeting- two things that make me very happy.

To celebrate, I'm giving away some award winning Robert Channon Wine - a 2005 Cab Sav and a 2009 Pinot Gris. These wines are beautiful and the red will be perfect to finish off before summer really gets here, and the white can be savoured in the warmer weather in spring. To win a bottle of wine or maybe two, just leave a comment below! Say whatever you would like to say! i.e. places you would like to see reviewed, things you would like cooked, details on changes you would like to see etc etc.

If I don't 'know you on twit or wherev be sure to leave some contact details- I won't post those to the site. Entry closes on Friday 10th September.

I'd also really like it if you will be my friend on facebook but I'm not going to be paying you in wine for that you know!!

Once again, thanks for reading- it is you guys who make it all worth it and I guess- Happy Birthday to Me- G.G.!

Happy Birthday GG. You know I love your blog.

It is interesting that you say you would like to improve your baking. I have always kind of thought that one is either a meal cooker or a baker. Being great at both is a gift. I could not bake until 4 years ago when I was gifted a kitchenaid. It would have been a sin to let it sit unloved.

That Christmas I bought myself Domestic Goddess (by Nigella of course) and so began my love of baking. My skills in good home meal cooking unfortunately have gone by the wayside. But the kids love two minute noodles now (just kidding) I am hoping to get a bit more creative in the weeknight meal department.

If Gunnedah wasn’t so far away (I did consider a lovely 'day' trip until I googled it) I would be down at Porchetta day FOR SURE. Those posts are my favourite. I love history and learning about bloggers and the paths that have brought them here.

You should be very proud of your blog. I know for a fact there are many people who read it and love it, but do not blog themselves so do not leave comments. That is a shame. However, your blog is entertaining, motivating and interesting to lots of people.

Happy birthday again my bloggy friend and thank you for your lovely comments on my blog too.

Happy Birthday G.G. I will come to Porchetta if I win some of that wine? In fact you can deliver it to my house when you come home.

It has been a pleasure to read you over the past year and I thoroughly enjoy your reviews of this gorgeous river city.

A huge happy birthday and congratulations!
I never realised how much work a blog was until I started mine! It is hard to fit in between commitments and family life.
I cried for ages when I turned 25. For some reason I had never thought you were truly 'grown up' until you reached 25. I was married and had a child by then, but it didn't matter, I still knew it was the point of no return!
Keep blogging about what makes you happy and hungry, and may you have many more birthdays to come x x

Happy 1st blog birthday! It was been a pleasure reading your honest food thoughts and also getting to know you on a more relaxed level on Twitter. One of these days we'll be able to tee up our schedules to meet in person =)

And what I only just realised is that our blogs are about the same age!

Happy Birthday GG! I think the first year is the hardest when you have to figure out your own blogging style, but I think yours is making a big impression amongst our growing group of Brisbane bloggers. Keep up the good work!
